This mostly happens to those Apple Native Apps (Clips/Keynote/Pages/.....), and apps not installed via MDM.  

• Device > Device Management
  
  
• Select a Device
  
  
• In device detail page, tab Apps > Check the far right column

To switch apps to manage, go to 

1. Device > Device Management
   
   
2. Select a Device
   
   
3. Actions > Apps > Manage Apps
   
   
4. Select the Apps you want to manage
   
   
5. Confirm
